I know she lived a long and healthy life, and productive, successful and mostly happy. I know this.
But I am only 41 and I still dread days when people that I care about die, and there will be many more to come of the loved ones and friends I currently have in my life who will die.
I asked Florence, who is 88, which was worse...being 88 and already living through all the deaths of those around her, or me, at age 41, knowing all those days of death are before me?
She couldn't answer which one was worse.
