Fun weekend!

Yes, it seems I gotta break Pete of that nasty Mountain Dew habit of his...that stuff is just gross....I mean hey, if he says I gotta stop chewing my fingernails, he'll have to "lead by example" and give up THAT bad habit of HIS then, right?! So nyahhhh!

Yes INDEED, that deli was amazing, and the RUGALEH we got for dessert was KILLER AWESOME too. Love that place!! (We both like to eat WAYYY too much). We'll definitely have to go back to Harry's New York Style Deli in New Jersey, that's for sure. They had a pickle bar there----NOT a salad bar, but every sort of homemade pickle you could imagine---kosher dills, sweet, sour, half sour, hot and spicy, etc., and they had saurkraut, and a mixed veggie salad that was very good too, but they also had sour tomatoes (which I did not try), and hot peppers, etc., along with fresh baked bread of all sorts. It was amazing, this place, and I think if we lived NEAR it, we'd both gain 100 pounds in no time! Good thing it's a 6 hour drive.

Ok enough about food...now on to the good stuff. Here is a couple of recent photos that were taken LAST NIGHT as a matter of fact, which I think turned out VERY well....they all did, actually, and we had a bunch taken of us together.

You might be wondering "Hmm, why is she wearing that weird choker, and what looks like a corset?" Well, that's because I was feeling like a major BADASS, and if you notice in the Disturbed concert photo, I wore it there too!! I love that thing. I mean, hey, I know I look like a frumpy "mild-mannered" chick most of the time, but sometimes I just want to TRY and look like a badass, ya know?! (Whether or not I achieve this badass look, I really don't know...but at least I try). Pete didn't feel badass enough to wear his leather buttless chaps though, what a bummer! hehehehehe (Kidding, he doesn't even OWN anything leather except a winter coat)!!

The main reason I'm dressed like this is because this weekend, Pete and I were attending a special weekend event--we were invited by some friends we met while camping during Memorial Day weekend--and there was also a somewhat formal dinner party going on, with a bunch of very sexy-dressed"goth" types, and dressed up biker dudes and biker chicks, so I figured it would help me "fit in" a bit. The corset thing is a top that I found, and I think it looks very sharp on me, so I wore it as a dressy type of top with a skirt and high heels for the evening.

Yes, we'll get the new apartment painted and new carpeting in soon, I'm currently surrounded by boxes that are packed, and most that are still un-packed at this point, in Virginia. But soon, all that will change. My interview went very well in Pittsburgh on Friday morning, and I'm waiting with crossed fingers and toes that she'll call me soon to hire me. I would be working for a Council woman, so I'd be involved in some political stuff...and ain't THAT ironic, that I would have to travel all the way to Pittsburgh to get involved in politics!! But, we'll see if that happens or not. If not, it's back to the job hunt drawing board.

We don't have a specific date for the move yet, it can't happen until I find someone to replace myself in my VA house first, so I've got people coming over all week long to look at the place so hopefully soon that will happen...and then, I can put in my notice at my current job, and arrange for the U-Haul truck. It's going to be bizarre, living so far away from Fubar City...in a way, I've been wanting to get the HECK OUTTA HERE for a long time, but in another way, sometimes you just can't help but miss the quicksand on your shoes from the quagmire at the same time, ya know?

That's the news from our neck of the woods this week. Next weekend we'll be off to New Jersey again to visit with my Ghana pen-pal, Ben, and I'll add a photo of him here as well. He's been in the US (for the first time since I started writing to him 10 years ago when he was only 13) for the past 3 months, working at a salt-water taffy candy store, AND at McDonald's, living near the boardwalk near the ocean in Wildwood NJ, but he returns to Ghana at the end of August. So this will be our last time visiting him before he goes back home. He's finishing his last year of college, he's 23 years old now. I love this kid, he calls me his "American Mom" and I call him my "African son." He's awesome. I'll write more about him again soon. Here's a photo of him and I together!

Love, Becky
